Then he said to me,tSee ch. 2:1 “Son of man, lift up your eyes now toward the north. ” So I lifted up my eyes toward the north, and behold, north ofuSee ver. 16 the altar gate, in the entrance, was thisp[See ver. 3 above] image of jealousy. And he said to me, “Son of man,v[ch. 47:6] do you see what they are doing,wSee ch. 5:11 the great abominations that the house of Israel are committing here,x[ch. 10:18, 19] to drive me far from my sanctuary? But you will see still greater abominations. ”

And he brought me to the entrance of the court, and when I looked, behold, there was a hole in the wall. Then he said to me, “Son of man,y[ch. 12:5] dig in the wall. ” So I dug in the wall, and behold, there was an entrance. And he said to me, “Go in, and seezSee ch. 5:11 the vile abominations that they are committing here. ” 10 So I went in and saw. And there,ach. 23:14 engraved on the wall all around, wasbSee Ex. 20:4 every form ofcLev. 11:20; Rom. 1:23 creeping things and loathsome beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel. 11 And before them stoodd[Ex. 24:1; Num. 11:16] seventy men ofeSee ver. 1 the elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah the son off2 Chr. 34:8 Shaphan standing among them. Each had his censer in his hand, andg[ch. 6:13] the smoke of the cloud of incense went up. 12 Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doingh[ver. 7] in the dark, eachi[ver. 10] in his room of pictures? For they say,jch. 9:9; Ps. 10:11; Isa. 29:15 ‘The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land. ’13 He said also to me,kver. 6 “You will see still greater abominations that they commit. ”

14 Then he brought me tolver. 3 the entrance of the north gate of the house of the Lord, and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. 15 Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, Ot[See ver. 5 above] son of man?k[See ver. 13 above] You will see still greater abominations than these. ”

16 And he brought me intomch. 10:3; 40:28; 43:5; 45:19; 46:1; 1 Kgs. 6:36 the inner court of the house of the Lord. And behold, at the entrance of the temple of the Lord,nJoel 2:17 between theo1 Kgs. 6:3 porch andpver. 5; ch. 40:47; Ex. 40:6, 29; [ch. 9:2] the altar, were about twenty-five men,q[Jer. 2:27; 32:33] with their backs to the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east, worshipingrSee Jer. 8:2 the sun toward the east. 17 Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, OsSee ch. 2:1 son of man?
