1 In the first book, OaLuke 1:3 Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus beganbLuke 24:19 to do and teach, 2 until the day whencSee Mark 16:19 he was taken up, after hed[ch. 10:42; Matt. 28:19, 20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47; John 20:21] had given commandse[ch. 10:38; Luke 4:1, 18; John 20:22] through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. 3 fch. 10:40, 41; 13:31; Matt. 28:17; Mark 16:14; Luke 24:34, 36-51; John 20:19-29; 21; 1 Cor. 15:5-7 To them he presented himself alive after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

12 ThenbLuke 24:50, 52 they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away. 13 And when they had entered, they went up tocch. 9:37, 39; 20:8 the upper room, where they were staying,dSee Matt. 10:2-4; Mark 3:16-19; Luke 6:14-16 Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simone[ch. 21:20] the Zealot and Judas the son of James. 14 All thesefch. 2:46; 4:24; 5:12; 15:25; Rom. 15:6 with one accordgch. 2:42; 6:4; Rom. 12:12; Col. 4:2; [Eph. 6:18] were devoting themselves to prayer, together withhLuke 8:2, 3 the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, andiSee Matt. 12:46 his brothers.
15 In those days Peter stood up amongjSee John 21:23 the brothers (the company of persons was in all about 120) and said,
16 “Brothers,kLuke 24:44; [Luke 22:37] the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas,lMatt. 26:47; Mark 14:43; Luke 22:47; John 18:3 who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.

18 (Now this mano[Matt. 27:5-8] bought a field withp[Matt. 26:14-16] the reward of his wickedness, and falling headlong1Or swelling up he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out.
19 And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the field was calledq[ch. 21:40] in their own language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)
20 “For it is written in the Book of Psalms,
