1:1 |
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus: |
1:5 |
He predestined us to adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kindgood intentionpleasure of His will, |
1:6 |
to the praise of the glory of His grace, with which He freelyfavored bestowed on us in the Beloved. |
1:7 |
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasseswrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace |
1:9 |
He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kindgood intentionpleasure which He purposedset forth in Him, |
1:10 |
withregarding aHis viewplan toof an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, thatto is,bring the summing up of all things together in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him |
1:11 |
alsoIn Him we also have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to Histhe purpose of Him who works all things afterin accordance with the counselplan of His will, |
1:12 |
to the end that we who were the first to hope in the Christ would be to the praise of His glory. |
1:13 |
In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of the promise, |
1:14 |
who is givena asfirst ainstallment pledge of our inheritance, within aregard view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory. |
1:17 |
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. |
1:19 |
and what is the surpassingboundless greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might |
1:22 |
And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gavemade Him as head over all things to the church, |
2:1 |
And you were dead in your trespassesoffenses and sins, |
2:2 |
in which you formerlypreviously walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. |
2:3 |
Among them we too all formerlypreviously lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, evenjust as the rest. |
2:5 |
even when we were dead in our transgressionswrongdoings, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), |
2:7 |
so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassingboundless riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. |
2:8 |
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and thatthis is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; |
2:9 |
not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. |
2:11 |
Therefore remember that formerlypreviously you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “Uncircumcision” by the so-called “Circumcision,”” which is performed in the flesh by human hands— |
2:12 |
remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealthpeople of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world. |
2:13 |
But now in Christ Jesus you who formerlypreviously were far offaway have been brought near by the blood of Christ. |
2:15 |
by abolishing in His flesh the enmityhostility, which is the Law composed of commandments containedexpressed in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new manperson, thusin this way establishing peace,; |
2:16 |
and that He might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmityhostility. |
2:19 |
So then you are no longer strangers and aliensforeigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, |
2:20 |
having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stonecornerstone, |
3:2 |
if indeed you have heard of the stewardshipadministration of God’s grace which was given to me for you; |
3:3 |
that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in briefbriefly. |
3:5 |
which in other generations was not made known to the sons of menmankind, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit; |
3:9 |
and to bringenlighten all people as to light what is the administrationplan of the mystery is which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things; |
3:10 |
so that the manifoldmultifaceted wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places. |
3:13 |
Therefore I ask you not to losebecome heartdiscouraged atabout my tribulations onin your behalf, forsince they are your glory. |
3:14 |
For this reason I bowbend my knees before the Father, |
3:16 |
that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner manself, |
3:18 |
may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadthwidth and length and height and depth, |
3:19 |
and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. |
4:1 |
Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, imploreurge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, |
4:2 |
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showingbearing tolerancewith for one another in love, |
4:3 |
being diligent to preservekeep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. |
4:4 |
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you also you were called in one hope of your calling; |
4:8 |
Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captive athe host of captives, And He gave gifts to menpeople.” |
4:11 |
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, |
4:12 |
for the equipping of the saints for the work of serviceministry, tofor the building up of the body of Christ; |
4:14 |
As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of menpeople, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; |
4:15 |
but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, eventhat is, Christ, |
4:17 |
So this I say this, and affirm togetherin with the Lord, that you walkare to no longer walk just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mindminds, |
4:19 |
and they, having become callous, have given themselves overup to sensualityindecent behavior for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. |
4:22 |
that, in reference to your former mannerway of life, you layare asideto rid yourselves of the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, |
4:23 |
and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your mindminds, |
4:24 |
and to put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. |
4:25 |
Therefore, layingridding asideyourselves of falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, forbecause we are membersparts of one another. |
4:28 |
HeThe one who steals must steal no longer steal; but rather he must labor, performingproducing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with the one who has need. |
4:29 |
Let no unwholesome word proceedcome fromout of your mouth, but onlyif suchthere ais wordany asgood isword good for edification according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear. |
4:31 |
LetAll all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and slander must be putremoved away from you, along with all malice. |
4:32 |
Be kind to one another, tender-heartedcompassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. |
5:3 |
But sexual immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be namedmentioned among you, as is proper among saints; |
5:4 |
and there must be no filthiness andor sillyfoolish talk, or coarsevulgar jestingjoking, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. |
5:5 |
For this you know with certainty, that no sexually immoral or impure person or covetousgreedy manperson, whowhich isamounts to an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. |
5:6 |
Let See that no one deceivedeceives you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. |
5:7 |
Therefore do not bebecome partakerspartners with them; |
5:8 |
for you were formerlyonce darkness, but now you are Lightlight in the Lord; walk as children of Lightlight |
5:9 |
(for the fruit of the Lightlight consists in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth), |
5:10 |
tryingas you try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. |
5:11 |
Do not participate in the unfruitfuluseless deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; |
5:15 |
ThereforeSo then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise menpeople but as wise, |
5:17 |
SoTherefore then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. |
5:18 |
And do not get drunk with wine, forin thatwhich there is dissipationdebauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, |
5:19 |
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your hearthearts to the Lord; |
5:20 |
always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to our God, evenand the Father; |
5:21 |
and be subject yourselves to one another in the fear of Christ. |
5:22 |
Wives, be subject yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord. |
5:28 |
So husbands also ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; |
5:30 |
because we are membersparts of His body. |
5:31 |
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. |
5:33 |
Nevertheless, eachas individualfor among you alsoindividually, each husband is to love his own wife eventhe same as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband. |
6:3 |
so that it may beturn out well withfor you, and that you may live long on the earth. |
6:6 |
not by way of eyeserviceeye-service, as menpeople-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. |
6:7 |
With goodgoodwill will render service, as to the Lord, and not to menpeople, |
6:8 |
knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive this back from the Lord, whether slave or free. |
6:13 |
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist inon the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. |
6:14 |
Stand firm therefore, having girdedbelted your loinswaist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, |
6:15 |
and having shodstrapped on your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; |
6:17 |
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. |
6:18 |
With allevery prayer and petitionrequest, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petitionevery request for all the saints, |
6:19 |
and pray onin my behalf, that utterancespeech may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, |
6:21 |
ButNow, so that you also may know about my circumstances, howas to what I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful ministerservant in the Lord, will make everything known to you. |
6:23 |
Peace be to the brethrenbrothers and sisters, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
