Life in the Spirit

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law ofh1 Cor. 15:45; 2 Cor. 3:6 the Spirit of lifeiver. 12; See ch. 6:14, 18; 7:4 has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. To setuver. 13; [Col. 2:18]; See ch. 6:21 the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh isvJames 4:4 hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law;w1 Cor. 2:14 indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Heirs with Christ

12 So then, brothers, we are debtors,cSee ver. 2 not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit youdCol. 3:5 put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who areeGal. 5:18 led by the Spirit of God arefver. 16, 19; ch. 9:8, 26; Deut. 14:1; Hos. 1:10; John 1:12 sons of God. 15 Forg1 Cor. 2:12 you did not receiveh2 Tim. 1:7; [Gal. 2:4; Heb. 2:15; 1 John 4:18] the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit ofiver. 23; Gal. 4:5; [ch. 9:4; Isa. 56:5; Jer. 31:9] adoption as sons, by whom we cry,jGal. 4:6; [Mark 14:36] “Abba! Future Glory

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present timen2 Cor. 4:17; [1 Pet. 1:5, 6] are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing foro1 Pet. 4:13; 5:1; 1 John 3:2; [ch. 2:7] the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creationpGen. 3:18, 19; Eccles. 1:2 was subjected to futility, not willingly, butqGen. 3:17 because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 thatr[Acts 3:21] the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know thatsMark 16:15 the whole creationtJer. 12:4, 11 has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who haveu[2 Cor. 5:5; James 1:18] the firstfruits of the Spirit,v2 Cor. 5:2, 4 groan inwardly aswver. 19, 25; Isa. 25:9; Gal. 5:5 we wait eagerly for adoption as sons,xSee ch. 7:24; Luke 21:28 the redemption of our bodies. 24 Fory[1 Thess. 1:3; 5:8] in this hope we were saved. Nowz2 Cor. 4:18; Heb. 11:1 hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, wea[1 Thess. 1:3; 5:8] wait for it with patience.

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. Forb[Matt. 20:22; James 4:3] we do not know what to pray for as we ought, butcZech. 12:10; Eph. 6:18; See John 14:16 the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 Andd1 Sam. 16:7; 1 Chr. 28:9; Prov. 15:11; 17:3; Jer. 11:20; 17:10; Luke 16:15; 1 Thess. 2:4 he who searches hearts knows what iseSee ver. 6 the mind of the Spirit, because1Or that the Spiritf[ver. 34] intercedes for the saintsg[1 John 5:14] according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work togetherhEzra 8:22; [Eccles. 8:12] for good, forich. 9:24; 1 Cor. 1:9; 7:15, 17; Gal. 1:15; 5:8; Eph. 4:1, 4; 2 Tim. 1:9 those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom hejch. 11:2; 1 Pet. 1:2 foreknew he alsok1 Cor. 2:7; Eph. 1:5, 11; [ch. 9:23] predestinedlPhil. 3:21; [1 Cor. 15:49; Col. 3:10]; See 1 John 3:2 to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might bemCol. 1:15, 18; Heb. 1:6; Rev. 1:5 the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he alson1 Cor. 6:11 justified, and those whom he justified he alsooJohn 17:22; [Heb. 2:10] glorified.

God's Everlasting Love

31 What then shall we say to these things?pNum. 14:9; 2 Kgs. 6:16; Ps. 118:6; 1 John 4:4 If God is for us, who can be1Or who is against us? 32 qJohn 3:16 He who did not spare his own Son butrSee ch. 4:25 gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God's elect?sIsa. 50:8, 9; [Rev. 12:10, 11] It is God who justifies. 34 tver. 1 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—uSee Mark 16:19 who is at the right hand of God,vHeb. 7:25; 1 John 2:1; [ver. 27] who indeed is interceding for us.1Or Is it Christ Jesus who died . . . for us? 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,
wCited from Ps. 44:22 “For your sakex1 Cor. 4:9; 15:30, 31; 2 Cor. 4:10, 11; See Acts 20:24 we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered. ”

37 No, in all these things we are more thany1 Cor. 15:57; See John 16:33 conquerors throughzGal. 2:20; Eph. 5:2; Rev. 1:5; 3:9 him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
