The Advance of the Gospel

12 I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has reallyxver. 25; 1 Tim. 4:15 served to advance the gospel, 13 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard andy[Acts 28:30, 31; 2 Tim. 2:9] to all the rest thatz[Luke 21:13]; See ver. 7 my imprisonment is for Christ. 14 And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bolda[Acts 4:31] to speak the word without fear.

15 bSee 2 Cor. 11:13 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. 16 The latter do it out of love,c[1 Cor. 9:17] knowing that I am put here fordver. 7 the defense of the gospel. 17 The former proclaim Christech. 2:3; See James 3:14 out of rivalry, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment.

To Live Is Christ

18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice, 19 for I know thatfSee 2 Cor. 1:11 through your prayers andgGal. 3:5 the help ofhSee Acts 16:7 the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, 20 as it is my eager expectation and hopeiRom. 5:5; [Joel 2:27; 2 Tim. 2:15] that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with fulljSee Acts 4:13 courage now as always Christk[1 Cor. 6:20] will be honored in my body,lRom. 14:8 whether by life or by death. 21 For to mem[Gal. 2:20] to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 n[2 Cor. 5:8] I am hard pressed between the two. My desire iso2 Tim. 4:6 to depart andpSee John 12:26 be with Christ, for that is far better. 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. 25 q[ch. 2:24] Convinced of this,r[Acts 20:25] I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for yoursver. 12 progress andtRom. 15:13 joy in the faith, 26 so that in meuSee 2 Cor. 1:14 you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again.
