Then Job answered and said:


kch. 13:17 “Keep listening to my words,
and let this be your comfort.

Bear with me, and I will speak,
and after I have spoken,l[ch. 16:10, 20; 17:2] mock on.

As for me, is mymch. 10:1; 23:2 complaint against man?
Why should I not be impatient?

Look at me and be appalled,
andnch. 29:9; 40:4; Judg. 18:19 lay your hand over your mouth.

When I remember I am dismayed,
and shuddering seizes my flesh.

reach old age, and grow mighty in power?

10 Their bull breeds without fail;

16 Behold, is not their prosperity in their hand?

That God distributes pains in his anger?

19 You say, ‘Godgch. 15:20 stores up their iniquity for theirhEx. 20:5 children. ’

20 Let their own eyes see their destruction,
and let themjPs. 60:3; 75:8; Isa. 51:17, 22; Jer. 25:15; Obad. 16; Rev. 14:10 drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21 For what do they care for their houses after them,
whenkch. 14:5 the number of their months is cut off?

23 One dies in his full vigor,
being wholly at ease and secure,

never having tasted of prosperity.

27 Behold, I know your thoughts
and your schemes to wrong me.

29 Have you not asked those who travel the roads,
and do you not accept their testimony

30 thatt[Prov. 16:4; 2 Pet. 2:9] the evil man is spared in the day of calamity,
that he is rescued in the day of wrath?

and whovDeut. 7:10 repays him for what he has done?

watch is kept over his tomb.

34 How then will you comfort me with empty nothings?
