and all support of water;

u2 Kgs. 24:14; Ezek. 17:13, 14 the mighty man and the soldier,
the judge and the prophet,
the diviner and the elder,

the captain of fifty
and the man of rank,

and infants1Or caprice shall rule over them.

wSee Mic. 7:3-6 And the people will oppress one another,
every one his fellow
and every one his neighbor;
the youth will be insolent to the elder,
and the despised to the honorable.

Forxch. 4:1 a man will take hold of his brother
in the house of his father, saying:
“You have a cloak;
you shall be our leader,
and this heap of ruins
shall be under your rule ”
;
in that day he will speak out, saying:
“I will not be ay[ch. 1:6] healer;
in my house there is neither bread nor cloak;
you shall not make me
leader of the people. ”

For Jerusalem has stumbled,
and Judah has fallen,
because theirzSee Ps. 73:9-11 speech and their deeds are against the Lord,
ach. 65:3 defying his glorious presence.

For the look on their faces bears witness against them;
they proclaim their sinbGen. 13:13; 18:20; Ezek. 16:46, 48, 49 like Sodom;
they do not hide it.
Woe to them!
c[Rom. 6:23] For they have brought evil on themselves.

and women rule over them.
O my people,hSee ch. 28:14-22 your guides mislead you
and they have swallowed up1Or they have confused the course of your paths.

13 The LordiPs. 7:6; Hos. 4:1 has taken his place to contend;
he stands to judge peoples.

14 The Lord will enter into judgment
with thejMic. 3:1 elders and princes of his people:
“It is you whokPs. 14:4 have devoured1Or grazed over; compare Exodus 22:5 the vineyard,
lAmos 3:10 the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

15 What do you mean bym[Ps. 94:5] crushing my people,
by grinding the face of the poor? ”

16 The Lord said:
nSee ch. 32:9-11 Becauseoch. 4:4; Song 3:11 the daughters of Zion are haughty
and walk with outstretched necks,
glancing wantonly with their eyes,
mincing along as they go,
pver. 18 tinkling with their feet,

17 therefore the Lordq[Deut. 28:60] will strike with a scab
the heads ofo[See ver. 16 above] the daughters of Zion,
and the Lord will lay bare their secret parts.

18 In that day the Lord will take awayrver. 16 the finery of the anklets, thes[1 Pet. 3:3] headbands, and thetJudg. 8:21, 26 crescents; 19 the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarves; 20 theuEx. 39:28; Ezek. 24:17 headdresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets; 21 the signet rings andvGen. 24:47; Ezek. 16:12 nose rings; 22 thew[Luke 15:22] festal robes, the mantles, the cloaks, and the handbags; 23 the mirrors, the linen garments, the turbans, and the veils.

and instead of ayProv. 31:24 belt, a rope;
and instead ofz1 Pet. 3:3 well-set hair,ach. 15:2; 22:12; Ezek. 27:31; Amos 8:10; Mic. 1:16 baldness;
and instead of a rich robe, abch. 15:3; Gen. 37:34; Lam. 2:10 skirt of sackcloth;
