1 And you,aSee ch. 2:1 O son of man, take abPs. 57:4; Isa. 49:2 sharp sword. Use it asc[Isa. 7:20] a barber's razor andd[ch. 1:3; 44:20; Lev. 21:5] pass it over your head and your beard. Then take balances for weighing and divide the hair. 2 eSee ver. 12 A third part you shall burn in the firef[ver. 5; ch. 4:1] in the midst of the city,gSee ch. 4:8 when the days of the siege are completed. And a third part you shall take and strike with the sword all around the city.h[ver. 10] And a third part you shall scatter to the wind, andiver. 12; ch. 12:14; [Jer. 9:16] I will unsheathe the sword after them. 3 j[Jer. 40:6; 52:16] And you shall take from these a small number and bind them in the skirts of your robe. 4 k[Jer. 42:18; 44:14] And of these again you shall take some and cast them into the midst of the fire and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will come out into all the house of Israel.

I have set herm[ch. 38:12] in the center of the nations, with countries all around her. 6 And she has rebelled against my rules by doing wickednessnSee ch. 16:47, 48 more than the nations, and against my statutes more thanm[See ver. 5 above] the countries all around her; for they have rejected my rules and have not walked in my statutes. 7 Therefore thus says the Lord God : Because you areoPs. 2:1; 46:6 more turbulent than the nations that are all around you,pch. 16:47 and have not walked in my statutes or obeyed my rules,q[ch. 11:12] and have not even acted according to the rules of the nations that are all around you, 8 therefore thus says the Lord God : Behold, I, even I,rSee ch. 13:8 am against you.sch. 11:9; 16:41; 23:10 And I will execute judgments in your midsttch. 22:16 in the sight of the nations. 9 And because of all your abominations I will do with youu[2 Kgs. 21:12, 13; Lam. 1:12; Dan. 9:12] what I have never yet done, and the like of which I will never do again. 10 ThereforevSee Jer. 19:9 fathers shall eat their sons in your midst, and sons shall eat their fathers.s[See ver. 8 above] And I will execute judgments on you,wch. 12:14; 17:21; 22:15; 36:19; Deut. 28:64; Jer. 9:16; 15:4; Zech. 2:6; [ver. 2; ch. 36:19] and any of you who survive I will scatter to all the winds. 11 Therefore,xSee ch. 16:48 as I live, declares the Lord God, surely,ych. 8:3, 5, 6; 23:39; 2 Chr. 36:14; Jer. 7:30 because you have defiled my sanctuaryzch. 11:18 with all your detestable things and with all yourach. 7:20; 11:18, 21 abominations,bch. 16:27 therefore I will withdraw.cch. 7:4, 9; 8:18; 9:5, 10; [Jer. 21:7] My eye will not spare, and I will have no pity. 12 d[ver. 2; ch. 6:11, 12; Jer. 15:2] A third part of you shall die of pestilence and be consumed with famine in your midst;d[ver. 2; ch. 6:11, 12; Jer. 15:2] a third part shall fall by the sword all around you;d[ver. 2; ch. 6:11, 12; Jer. 15:2] and a third part I will scatter to all the winds and will unsheathe the sword after them.

Pestilence andqch. 38:22 blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword upon you. I am the Lord; I have spoken. ”
