1 The word of the Lord came to me:
2 vSee ch. 2:1 “Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord God :
wSee Isa. 13:6 Wail, ‘Alas for the day! ’
3 w[See ver. 2 above] For the day is near,
xch. 7:7, 12; Joel 1:15; 2:1; Zeph. 1:7 the day of the Lord is near;
it will beych. 34:12 a day of clouds,
a time of doom for the nations.
4 zch. 29:8 A sword shall come upon Egypt,
a[Isa. 21:3] and anguish shall be inb[Isa. 43:3] Cush,
when the slain fall in Egypt,
andcch. 29:19 her wealth1Or multitude; also verse 10 is carried away,
andd[ver. 6] her foundations are torn down.
5 b[See ver. 4 above] Cush, andeSee ch. 27:10 Put, and Lud, andfSee Jer. 25:20 all Arabia, and Libya, and the people of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword.
6 Thus says the Lord :
g[ch. 32:21] Those who support Egypt shall fall,
andhver. 18; [ch. 33:28] her proud might shall come down;
ich. 29:10 from Migdol to Syene
they shall fall within her by the sword,
declares the Lord God.
7 jch. 29:12 And they shall be desolated in the midst of desolated countries,
and their cities shall be in the midst of cities that are laid waste.
8 kch. 29:6; See ch. 6:7 Then they will know that I am the Lord,
whenl[ch. 28:18] I have set fire to Egypt,
andg[See ver. 6 above] all her helpers are broken.
9 On that daym[Isa. 18:1, 2] messengers shall go out from me in ships to terrify the unsuspectingb[See ver. 4 above] people of Cush, anda[See ver. 4 above] anguish shall come upon them on the day of Egypt's doom; for, behold, it comes!
10 Thus says the Lord God :
nSee ch. 29:19 I will put an end to the wealth of Egypt,
by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
11 He and his people with him,oSee ch. 28:7 the most ruthless of nations,
shall be brought in to destroy the land,
z[See ver. 4 above] and they shall draw their swords against Egypt
and fill the land with the slain.
12 AndpIsa. 19:5, 6; [ch. 29:10] I willq[ch. 29:3] dry up the Nile
and will sell the land into the hand ofr[Isa. 19:4] evildoers;
s[ch. 29:10] I will bring desolation upon the land and everything in it,
by the hand oftSee ch. 28:7 foreigners;
uSee ch. 17:24 I am the Lord; I have spoken.
13 Thus says the Lord God :
vSee Jer. 43:12 I will destroy the idols
and put an end to the images inwIsa. 19:13 Memphis;
x[ch. 29:15; Zech. 10:11] there shall no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt;
soy[Isa. 19:16] I will put fear in the land of Egypt.
14 I will makezch. 29:14; See Isa. 11:11 Pathros a desolation
and will set fire toaSee Num. 13:22 Zoan
bver. 19 and will execute judgments oncJer. 46:25 Thebes.
15 And I will pour out my wrath on Pelusium,
the stronghold of Egypt,
and cut off the multitude1Or wealth of Thebes.
16 And I will set fire to Egypt;
Pelusium shall be in great agony;
Thebes shall be breached,
andw[See ver. 13 above] Memphis shall face enemies1Or distress by day.
17 The young men of On and of Pi-beseth shall fall by the sword,
and the women1Or the cities; Hebrew they shall go into captivity.

when I break there the yoke bars of Egypt,

she shall be covered by a cloud,
and her daughters shall go into captivity.

20 iSee ch. 20:1 In the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: 21 jSee ch. 2:1 “Son of man,k[Jer. 48:25] I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and behold,l[Jer. 30:13; 46:11] it has not been bound up, to heal it by binding it with a bandage, so that it may become strong to wield the sword. 22 Therefore thus says the Lord God : Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt andmSee ver. 21 will break his arms, both the strong arm and the one that was broken, and I will make the sword fall from his hand. 23 nch. 29:12 I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them through the countries. 24 Andover. 10 I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and putpSee ch. 21:3 my sword in his hand, but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan before himqJob 24:12 like a man mortally wounded. 25 I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh shall fall.rSee ch. 6:7 Then they shall know that I am the Lord,s[ver. 8] when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he stretches it out against the land of Egypt. 26 And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them throughout the countries. Then they will know that I am the Lord. ”
