Judgment on Wicked Counselors

11

sver. 24; See ch. 3:12 The Spirit lifted me up and brought me totch. 10:19 the east gate of the house of the Lord, which faces east. And behold, at the entrance of the gateway there wereuch. 8:16 twenty-five men. And I saw among them JaazaniahvJer. 28:1 the son of Azzur, andwver. 13 Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people. And he said to me,xSee ch. 2:1 “Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity and who give wicked counsel in this city; y[Jer. 29:28] who say,z[ch. 12:22, 27] ‘The time is not near1Or Is not the time near . . . ? to build houses.ach. 24:3, 6 This city is the cauldron, and we are the meat. ’ Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man. ”

AndbSee ch. 2:2 the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and he said to me, “Say, Thus says the Lord : So you think, O house of Israel.cch. 20:32; 38:10; [Isa. 29:15] For I know the things that come into your mind. d[ch. 7:23] You have multiplied your slain in this city and have filled its streets with the slain. Therefore thus says the Lord God :ech. 24:7 Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of it,a[See ver. 3 above] they are the meat, anda[See ver. 3 above] this city is the cauldron, but you shall be brought out of the midst of it. fJer. 42:16 You have feared the sword, and I will bring the sword upon you, declares the Lord God. And I will bring you out of the midst of it, andgch. 7:21 give you into the hands of foreigners, andhSee ch. 5:8 execute judgments upon you. 10 iJer. 39:6; See 2 Kgs. 25:18-21 You shall fall by the sword. I will judge you at the border of Israel, 12 and you shall know that I am the Lord. For you have not walked in my statutes, nor obeyed my rules,l[ch. 8:10, 14, 16] but have acted according to the rules of the nations that are around you. ”

13 And it came to pass, while I was prophesying,m[Acts 5:5] thatnver. 1 Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died.och. 9:8 Then I fell down on my face and cried out with a loud voice and said, och. 9:8 “Ah, Lord God!p[ch. 20:17] Will you make a full end of the remnant of Israel? ”

Israel's New Heart and Spirit

14 And the word of the Lord came to me: 15 qSee ch. 2:1 “Son of man, your brothers, even your brothers, your kinsmen, the whole house of Israel, all of them, are those of whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said,r[1 Sam. 26:19] ‘Go far from the Lord; to us this land is given for a possession. ’ 16 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God : Though I removed them far off among the nations, and though I scattered them among the countries, yets[ch. 37:26, 28; Isa. 8:14; Rev. 21:22] I have been a sanctuary to them for a while1Or in small measure in the countries where they have gone. ’ 17 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God :tch. 20:41; 28:25; 34:13; 36:24; 37:21; [ch. 38:8; 39:27; Isa. 11:12] I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, tch. 20:41; 28:25; 34:13; 36:24; 37:21; [ch. 38:8; 39:27; Isa. 11:12] and I will give you the land of Israel. ’ 18 And when they come there, uch. 37:23 they will remove from it all itsvch. 5:11 detestable things and all its abominations. 19 wJer. 32:39; [Acts 4:32] And I will give them one heart, andxch. 36:26; [ch. 18:31; Ps. 51:10; Jer. 31:33] a new spirit I will put within them.y[Zech. 7:12] I will remove the heart of stone from their fleshz[2 Cor. 3:3] and give them a heart of flesh, 20 aPs. 105:45 that they may walk in my statutes and keep my rules and obey them.bch. 14:11; 36:28; Lev. 26:12; See Jer. 30:22; 31:33 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 21 cSee ch. 9:4-6 But as for those whose heart goes after their detestable things and their abominations,dSee ch. 7:4 I will bring their deeds upon their own heads, declares the Lord God. ”
