Woe to Those at Ease in Zion

and to those who feel secure onxch. 3:9; 4:1 the mountain of Samaria,
y[Ezek. 22:6] the notable men ofzSee Ex. 19:5 the first of the nations,
to whom the house of Israel comes!

Pass over toaGen. 10:10; Isa. 10:9 Calneh, and see,
and from there go tob1 Kgs. 8:65; 2 Kgs. 18:34; Isa. 10:9 Hamath the great;
then go down tocSee 1 Sam. 17:4 Gath of the Philistines.
d[Nah. 3:8] Are you better than these kingdoms?
Or is their territory greater than your territory,

e[ch. 9:10; Ezek. 12:27] O you who put far away the day of disaster
fSee ch. 3:10 and bring near the seat of violence?

Woe to thoseg[ch. 3:12] who lie onh[Esth. 1:6] beds of ivory
g[ch. 3:12] and stretch themselves out on their couches,
and eat lambs from the flock

but are not grieved over the ruin of Joseph!

11 For behold, the Lord commands,

and the little house into bits.

12 Do horses run on rocks?
Does one plow there1Or the sea with oxen?

13 you who rejoice in Lo-debar,

captured Karnaim for ourselves? ”

14 “For behold,x[Jer. 5:15] I will raise up against you a nation,
O house of Israel, ”
declares the Lord, the God of hosts;
“and they shall oppress you fromy2 Kgs. 14:25 Lebo-hamath
to the Brook ofzSee Deut. 1:1 the Arabah. ”
