A Good Soldier of Christ Jesus

A Worker Approved by God

14 Remind them of these things, andy1 Tim. 5:21; 6:13 charge them before Godz1 Tim. 6:4; [ver. 23] not to quarrel about words,aTitus 3:9 which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workerb[Phil. 1:20] who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 16 ButcTitus 3:9 avoidd1 Tim. 6:20 irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, 17 and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them aree1 Tim. 1:20 Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who have swerved from the truth,f[1 Cor. 15:12] saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some. 19 But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal:gNum. 16:5; Nah. 1:7; John 10:14, 27; [Luke 13:27]; See 1 Cor. 8:3 “The Lord knows those who are his, ” and, “Let everyonehIsa. 26:13 who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity. ”

20 Now iniSee 1 Tim. 3:15 a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay,jRom. 9:21 some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. 21 Therefore,k[Prov. 25:4; Isa. 52:11] if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house,lch. 3:17; Titus 3:1; [1 Tim. 5:10] ready for every good work.
