Now concerningaSee 1 Thess. 2:19 the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and ourb[Matt. 24:31; 1 Thess. 4:15-17] being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind orcMatt. 24:6; Mark 13:7 alarmed, eitherd[1 John 4:1] by a spirit or aever. 15; [1 Thess. 5:2] spoken word, orever. 15; [1 Thess. 5:2] a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect thatfSee 1 Cor. 1:8 the day of the Lord has come. gEph. 5:6 Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come,h1 Tim. 4:1 unless the rebellion comes first, andi[ver. 8; Dan. 7:25; 8:25; 11:36; Rev. 13:5, 6] the man of lawlessness is revealed,jJohn 17:12; [Matt. 23:15] the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God,k[Isa. 14:14; Ezek. 28:2] proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. 16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father,gJohn 3:16; 1 John 4:10; Rev. 1:5 who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and goodh1 Pet. 1:3 hope through grace, 17 comfort your hearts andich. 3:3; 1 Thess. 3:13 establish them in every good work and word.
