1 And when the queenof Shebaheardof the fameof Solomon, she cameto proveSolomonwith hard questionsat Jerusalem, with a verygreatcompany, and camelsthat barespices, and goldin abundance, and preciousstones: and when she was cometo Solomon, she communedwith him of all that was in her heart.2 And Solomontoldher all her questions: and there was nothing hidfrom Solomonwhich he told her not.3 And when the queenof Shebahad seenthe wisdomof Solomon, and the housethat he had built,4 And the meatof his table, and the sittingof his servants, and the attendanceof his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearersalso, and their apparel; and his ascentby which he went upinto the houseof the Lord; there was no more spirit in her.ncupbearers: or, butlers5 And she saidto the king, It wasa truereportwhich I heardin mine own landof thine acts, and of thy wisdom:nreport: Heb. wordnacts: or, sayings6 Howbeit I believednot their words, until I came, and mine eyeshad seenit: and, behold, the one halfof the greatnessof thy wisdomwas not told me: forthou exceedestthe famethat I heard.7 Happyarethy men, and happyarethese thy servants, which standcontinuallybeforethee, and hearthy wisdom.8 Blessedbe the Lordthy God, which delightedin thee to setthee on his throne, to bekingfor the Lordthy God: because thy GodlovedIsrael, to establishthem for ever, therefore madehe thee kingover them, to dojudgmentand justice.9 And she gavethe kingan hundredand twentytalentsof gold, and of spicesgreatabundance, and preciousstones: neither was there any such spiceas the queenof ShebagavekingSolomon.10 And the servantsalso of Huram, and the servantsof Solomon, which broughtgoldfrom Ophir, broughtalgumtreesand preciousstones.nalgum…: also called, almug trees11 And the kingmadeofthe algumtreesterracesto the houseof the Lord, and to the king'spalace, and harpsand psalteriesfor singers: and there were none suchseenbeforein the landof Judah.nterraces: or, stairs: Heb. highways12 And kingSolomongaveto the queenof Shebaall her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside thatwhich she had broughtunto the king. So she turned, and went awayto her own land, she and her servants.
13 Now the weightof goldthat cameto Solomonin oneyearwas sixhundredand threescoreand sixtalentsof gold;14 Beside that whichchapmenand merchantsbrought. And all the kingsof Arabiaand governorsof the countrybroughtgoldand silverto Solomon.ngovernors: or, captains
15 And kingSolomonmadetwo hundredtargetsofbeatengold: sixhundredshekelsof beatengoldwentto onetarget.16 And threehundredshieldsmade he ofbeatengold: threehundredshekelsof goldwentto oneshield. And the kingputthem in the houseof the forestof Lebanon.17 Moreover the kingmadea greatthroneof ivory, and overlaidit with puregold.18 And there weresixstepsto the throne, with a footstoolof gold, which werefastenedto the throne, and stayson each side of the sittingplace, and twolionsstandingbythe stays:nstays: Heb. hands19 And twelvelionsstoodthere on the one side and on the other upon the sixsteps. There was not the like madein any kingdom.
20 And all the drinkingvesselsof kingSolomonwere ofgold, and all the vesselsof the houseof the forestof Lebanonwere ofpuregold: none were ofsilver; it was notanything accountedof in the daysof Solomon.npure: Heb. shut upnnone were of silver: or, there was no silver in them21 For the king'sshipswentto Tarshishwith the servantsof Huram: every threeyearsoncecamethe shipsof Tarshishbringinggold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.nivory: or, elephants' teeth22 And kingSolomonpassedall the kingsof the earthin richesand wisdom.
23 And all the kingsof the earthsoughtthe presenceof Solomon, to hearhis wisdom, that Godhad putin his heart.24 And they broughtevery manhis present, vesselsof silver, and vesselsof gold, and raiment, harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rateyearby year.
25 And Solomonhad fourthousandstallsfor horsesand chariots, and twelvethousandhorsemen; whom he bestowedin the chariotcities, and with the kingat Jerusalem.
26 And he reignedover all the kingsfrom the rivereven unto the landof the Philistines, and to the borderof Egypt.nriver: that is, Euphrates27 And the kingmadesilverin Jerusalemas stones, and cedar treesmadehe as the sycomore trees that arein the low plainsin abundance.nmade silver: Heb. gave silver28 And they broughtunto Solomonhorsesout of Egypt, and out of all lands.
29 Now the restof the actsof Solomon, firstand last, arethey not writtenin the bookof Nathanthe prophet, and in the prophecyof Ahijahthe Shilonite, and in the visionsof Iddothe seeragainst Jeroboamthe sonof Nebat?nbook: Heb. words30 And Solomonreignedin Jerusalemover all Israelfortyyears.31 And Solomonsleptwith his fathers, and he was buriedin the cityof Davidhis father: and Rehoboamhis sonreigned in his stead.
