7 For because thou hast trustedin thy worksand in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemoshshall go forthinto captivitywithhis priestsand his princestogether.8 And the spoilershall comeupon every city, and no cityshall escape: the valleyalso shall perish, and the plainshall be destroyed, as the Lordhath spoken.9 Givewingsunto Moab, that it may fleeand get away: for the citiesthereof shall be desolate, without any to dwelltherein.10 Cursedbehe that doeththe workof the Lorddeceitfully, and cursedbehe that keepeth backhis swordfrom blood.ndeceitfully: or, negligently
11 Moabhath been at easefrom his youth, and he hath settledon his lees, and hath not been emptiedfrom vesselto vessel, neither hath he goneinto captivity: therefore his tasteremainedin him, and his scentis not changed.nremained: Heb. stood12 Therefore, behold, the dayscome, saiththe Lord, that I will sendunto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall emptyhis vessels, and breaktheir bottles.13 And Moabshall be ashamedof Chemosh, as the houseof Israelwas ashamedof Beth–eltheir confidence.

26 Make ye him drunken: for he magnifiedhimselfagainst the Lord: Moabalso shall wallowin his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.27 For was not Israela derisionunto thee? was he foundamong thieves? for sincethou spakestof him, thou skippedst for joy.nskippedst…: or, movedst thyself28 O ye that dwellin Moab, leavethe cities, and dwellin the rock, and be like the dovethatmaketh her nestin the sidesof the hole'smouth.29 We have heardthe prideof Moab, (he is exceedingproud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtinessof his heart.30 I knowhis wrath, saiththe Lord; but it shall not beso; his liesshall not so effectit.nhis lies…: or, those on whom he stayeth (Heb. his bars) do not right31 Therefore will I howlfor Moab, and I will cry outfor all Moab; mine heartshall mournfor the menof Kir–heres.32 O vineof Sibmah, I will weepfor thee with the weepingof Jazer: thy plantsare gone overthe sea, they reachevento the seaof Jazer: the spoileris fallenupon thy summer fruitsand upon thy vintage.33 And joyand gladnessis takenfrom the plentiful field, and from the landof Moab; and I have caused wineto failfrom the winepresses: none shall treadwith shouting; theirshoutingshall beno shouting.34 From the cryof Heshbonevenunto Elealeh, and evenunto Jahaz, have they utteredtheir voice, from Zoarevenunto Horonaim, asan heiferof three years old: for the watersalso of Nimrimshall be desolate.ndesolate: Heb. desolations35 Moreover I will cause to ceasein Moab, saiththe Lord, him that offerethin the high places, and him that burneth incenseto his gods.36 Therefore mine heartshall soundfor Moablike pipes, and mine heartshall soundlike pipesfor the menof Kir–heres: because the richesthathe hath gottenare perished.37 For every headshall bebald, and every beardclipped: upon all the handsshall becuttings, and upon the loinssackcloth.nclipped: Heb. diminished38 There shall belamentationgenerally upon all the housetopsof Moab, and in the streetsthereof: for I have brokenMoablike a vessel wherein isno pleasure, saiththe Lord.39 They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moabturnedthe backwith shame! so shall Moabbe a derisionand a dismayingto all them about him.nback: Heb. neck40 For thus saiththe Lord; Behold, he shall flyas an eagle, and shall spreadhis wingsover Moab.41 Keriothis taken, and the strong holdsare surprised, and the mighty men'sheartsin Moabat that dayshall be as the heartof a womanin her pangs.nKerioth: or, The cities42 And Moabshall be destroyed from beinga people, because he hath magnifiedhimselfagainst the Lord.43 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall beupon thee, O inhabitantof Moab, saiththe Lord.44 He that fleethfromthe fearshall fallinto the pit; and he that getteth upout of the pitshall be takenin the snare: for I will bring upon it, evenupon Moab, the yearof their visitation, saiththe Lord.45 They that fledstoodunder the shadowof Heshbonbecause of the force: but a fireshall come forthout of Heshbon, and a flamefrom the midstof Sihon, and shall devourthe cornerof Moab, and the crown of the headof the tumultuousones.ntumultuous…: Heb. children of noise46 Woebe unto thee, O Moab! the peopleof Chemoshperisheth: for thy sonsare takencaptives, and thy daughterscaptives.ncaptives, and: Heb. in captivity, etc
