10 Woeis me, my mother, that thou hast borneme a manof strifeand a manof contentionto the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yetevery one of them doth curse me.11 The Lordsaid, Verilyit shall be wellwith thy remnant; verilyI will cause the enemyto entreat thee wellin the timeof eviland in the timeof affliction.ncause…: or, intreat the enemy for thee12 Shall ironbreakthe northernironand the steel?13 Thy substanceand thy treasureswill I giveto the spoilwithout price, and thatfor all thy sins, even in all thy borders.14 And I will make theeto passwith thine enemiesinto a landwhichthou knowestnot: for a fireis kindledin mine anger, whichshall burn upon you.
15 O Lord, thou knowest: rememberme, and visitme, and revengeme of my persecutors; take me not awayin thy longsuffering: knowthat for thy sake I have sufferedrebuke.16 Thy wordswere found, and I did eatthem; and thy wordwas unto me the joyand rejoicingof mine heart: for I am calledby thy name, O LordGodof hosts.nI am…: Heb. thy name is called upon me17 I satnot in the assemblyof the mockers, nor rejoiced; I satalonebecauseof thy hand: for thou hast filledme with indignation.18 Why is my painperpetual, and my woundincurable, whichrefusethto be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and aswatersthatfail?nfail: Heb. be not sure?
19 Therefore thus saiththe Lord, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, andthou shalt standbeforeme: and if thou take forththe preciousfrom the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them returnunto thee; but return not thou unto them.20 And I will makethee unto this peoplea fencedbrasenwall: and they shall fightagainst thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I amwith thee to savethee and to deliverthee, saiththe Lord.21 And I will deliverthee out of the handof the wicked, and I will redeemthee out of the handof the terrible.
