1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring againthe captivityof Judahand Jerusalem,2 I will also gatherall nations, and will bring them downinto the valleyof Jehoshaphat, and will pleadwith them there for my people and formy heritageIsrael, whom they have scatteredamong the nations, and partedmy land.3 And they have castlotsfor my people; and have givena boyfor an harlot, and solda girlfor wine, that they might drink.4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coastsof Palestine? will ye renderme a recompence? and if ye recompenseme, swiftlyandspeedilywill I returnyour recompenceupon your own head;5 Because ye have takenmy silverand my gold, and have carriedinto your templesmy goodlypleasant things:npleasant: Heb. desirable6 The childrenalso of Judahand the childrenof Jerusalemhave ye soldunto the Grecians, that ye might remove them farfrom their border.nthe Grecians: Heb. the sons of the Grecians7 Behold, I will raisethem out of the placewhither ye have soldthem, and will returnyour recompenceupon your own head:8 And I will sellyour sonsand your daughtersinto the handof the childrenof Judah, and they shall sellthem to the Sabeans, to a peoplefar off: for the Lordhath spokenit.
9 Proclaimye this among the Gentiles; Preparewar, wake upthe mighty men, let all the menof wardraw near; let them come up:nPrepare: Heb. Sanctify10 Beatyour plowsharesinto swords, and your pruninghooksinto spears: let the weaksay, I amstrong.npruninghooks: or, scythes11 Assembleyourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves togetherround about: thither cause thy mighty onesto come down, O Lord.ncause…: or, the Lord shall bring down12 Let the heathenbe wakened, and come upto the valleyof Jehoshaphat: for there will I sitto judgeall the heathenround about.13 Putye in the sickle, for the harvestis ripe: come, get you down; for the pressis full, the fatsoverflow; for their wickednessisgreat.14 Multitudes, multitudesin the valleyof decision: for the dayof the Lordisnearin the valleyof decision.ndecision: or, concision, or, threshing15 The sunand the moonshall be darkened, and the starsshall withdrawtheir shining.16 The Lordalso shall roarout of Zion, and utterhis voicefrom Jerusalem; and the heavensand the earthshall shake: but the Lordwill bethe hopeof his people, and the strengthof the childrenof Israel.nhope: Heb. place of repair, or, harbour17 So shall ye know that I amthe Lordyour Goddwellingin Zion, my holymountain: then shall Jerusalembe holy, and there shall no strangerspass through her any more.nholy: Heb. holiness
