10 Moreover the Lordspakeagainunto Ahaz, saying,nMoreover…: Heb. And the Lord added to speak11 Askthee a signof the Lordthy God; askit either in the depth, or in the heightabove.nask it…: or, make thy petition deep12 But Ahazsaid, I will not ask, neither will I temptthe Lord.13 And he said, Hearye now, O houseof David; Is ita small thingfor you to wearymen, but will ye wearymy God also?14 Therefore the Lordhimself shall giveyou a sign; Behold, a virginshall conceive, and beara son, and shall callhis nameImmanuel.nshall call: or, thou, O virgin, shalt call15 Butterand honeyshall he eat, that he may knowto refusethe evil, and choosethe good.16 For before the childshall knowto refusethe evil, and choosethe good, the landthat thou abhorrestshall beforsakenof bothher kings.
17 The Lordshall bringupon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father'shouse, daysthat have not come, from the daythat Ephraimdepartedfrom Judah; eventhe kingof Assyria.18 And it shall come to pass in that day, thatthe Lordshall hissfor the fly that isin the uttermost partof the riversof Egypt, and for the bee that isin the landof Assyria.19 And they shall come, and shall restall of them in the desolatevalleys, and in the holesof the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.nbushes: or, commendable trees20 In the same dayshall the Lordshavewith a razorthat is hired, namely, by them beyondthe river, by the kingof Assyria, the head, and the hairof the feet: and it shall also consumethe beard.21 And it shall come to pass in that day, thata manshall nourisha youngcow, and twosheep;22 And it shall come to pass, for the abundanceof milkthatthey shall givehe shall eatbutter: for butterand honeyshall every one eatthat is leftinthe land.nthe land: Heb. the midst of the land23 And it shall come to pass in that day, thatevery placeshall be, where there were a thousandvinesat a thousandsilverlings, it shall evenbe for briersand thorns.24 With arrowsand with bows shall mencomethither; because all the landshall become briersand thorns.25 And onall hillsthat shall be diggedwith the mattock, there shall not come thitherthe fearof briersand thorns: but it shall be for the sending forthof oxen, and for the treadingof lesser cattle.
