1 And it came to pass in the twelfthyear, in the twelfth month, in the firstdayof the month, thatthe wordof the Lordcame unto me, saying,2 Sonof man, take upa lamentationfor Pharaohkingof Egypt, and sayunto him, Thou art likea young lionof the nations, and thou artas a whalein the seas: and thou camest forthwith thy rivers, and troubledstthe waterswith thy feet, and fouledsttheir rivers.nwhale: or, dragon3 Thus saiththe LordGod; I will therefore spread outmy netover thee with a companyof manypeople; and they shall bring thee upin my net.4 Then will I leavethee upon the land, I will cast thee forthupon the openfield, and will cause all the fowlsof the heavento remainupon thee, and I will fillthe beastsof the whole earth with thee.5 And I will laythy fleshupon the mountains, and fillthe valleyswith thy height.6 I will also waterwith thy bloodthe landwherein thou swimmest, evento the mountains; and the riversshall be full of thee.nthe land wherein…: or, the land of thy swimming7 And when I shall put thee out, I will coverthe heaven, and makethe starsthereof dark; I will coverthe sunwith a cloud, and the moonshall not giveher light.nput…: or, extinguish thee8 All the brightlightsof heavenwill I make darkover thee, and setdarknessupon thy land, saiththe LordGod.nbright…: Heb. lights of the light in heavenndark: Heb. them dark9 I will also vexthe heartsof manypeople, when I shall bringthy destructionamong the nations, into the countrieswhich thou hast not known.nvex: Heb. provoke to anger, or, grief10 Yea, I will make manypeopleamazedat thee, and their kingsshall be horriblyafraidfor thee, when I shall brandishmy swordbefore them; and they shall tremble at everymoment, every manfor his own life, in the dayof thy fall.
11 For thus saiththe LordGod; The swordof the kingof Babylonshall come upon thee.12 By the swordsof the mightywill I cause thy multitudeto fall, the terribleof the nations, all of them: and they shall spoilthe pompof Egypt, and all the multitudethereof shall be destroyed.13 I will destroyalso all the beaststhereof frombeside the greatwaters; neither shall the footof mantroublethem any more, nor the hoofsof beaststrouble them.14 Then will I make their watersdeep, and cause their riversto runlike oil, saiththe LordGod.15 When I shall makethe landof Egyptdesolate, and the countryshall be destituteof that whereof it was full, when I shall smiteall them that dwelltherein, then shall they know that I amthe Lord.ndestitute…: Heb. desolate from the fulness thereof16 This isthe lamentationwherewith they shall lamenther: the daughtersof the nationsshall lamenther: they shall lament for her, evenfor Egypt, and for all her multitude, saiththe LordGod.
