Judgment on Israel's Neighbors

And he said:
gSee Joel 3:16 “The Lord roars from Zion
and utters his voice from Jerusalem;
h[Ps. 65:12] the pastures of the shepherds mourn,
and theich. 9:3 top ofjSee Josh. 19:26 Carmel withers. ”

Thus says the Lord :
kver. 9, 11, 13; ch. 2:1, 4, 6; Prov. 30:15, 18, 21, 29 “For three transgressions ofl[Isa. 8:4] Damascus,
and for four,l[Isa. 8:4] I will not revoke the punishment,
because they have threshedmver. 13; [2 Kgs. 10:33; Isa. 21:10] Gilead
with threshing sledges of iron.

nJer. 49:27 So I will send a fire upon the house ofo2 Kgs. 13:24, 25 Hazael,
and it shall devour the strongholds ofo2 Kgs. 13:24, 25 Ben-hadad.

I willpJer. 51:30 break the gate-bar ofl[See ver. 3 above] Damascus,
and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley ofqSee Hos. 4:15 Aven,1Or On
and him who holds the scepter fromr2 Kgs. 19:12 Beth-eden;
and the people ofsch. 9:7; [2 Kgs. 16:9] Syria shall go into exile totch. 9:7; 2 Kgs. 16:9 Kir, ”

says the Lord.

Thus says the Lord :
k[See ver. 3 above] “For three transgressions ofuJer. 47:1, 5; Zeph. 2:4; Zech. 9:5 Gaza,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
becausev2 Chr. 28:18; See Joel 3:4-6 they carried into exile a whole people
to deliver them up to Edom.

So I will send a fire upon the wall ofu[See ver. 6 above] Gaza,
and it shall devour her strongholds.

I will cut off the inhabitants fromwch. 3:9; 1 Sam. 5:1 Ashdod,
and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon;
I will turn my hand against Ekron,
and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, ”

says the Lord God.

Thus says the Lord :

and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they delivered up a whole people to Edom,
and did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.

10 So I will send a fire upon the wall ofx[See ver. 9 above] Tyre,
and it shall devour her strongholds. ”

11 Thus says the Lord :
k[See ver. 3 above] “For three transgressions ofy[2 Chr. 28:17] Edom,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
y[2 Chr. 28:17] because he pursued his brother with the sword
zPs. 137:7; [Joel 3:19; Mal. 1:4] and cast off all pity,
aEzek. 35:5 and his anger tore perpetually,
aEzek. 35:5 and he kept his wrath forever.

12 So I will send a fire uponbObad. 9; See 1 Chr. 1:45 Teman,
and it shall devour the strongholds ofcIsa. 63:1; See 1 Chr. 1:44 Bozrah. ”

13 Thus says the Lord :
k[See ver. 3 above] “For three transgressions of thedJer. 49:1, 2; Zeph. 2:8, 9 Ammonites,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
becauseeSee Hos. 13:16 they have ripped open pregnant women infver. 3 Gilead,
that they might enlarge their border.

14 So I will kindle a fire in the wall ofg2 Sam. 11:1; 12:26; See Ezek. 21:20 Rabbah,
h[Ezek. 21:28, 29] and it shall devour her strongholds,
with shouting on the day of battle,
h[Ezek. 21:28, 29] with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;

15 andiJer. 49:3 their king shall go into exile,
he and his princes1Or officials together, ”

says the Lord.
